Markus, Henry R. A. Age 64, of Bristol, Wisconsin, formerly of Gurnee, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. Henry was born to Arthur and Darleine (Smith) Markus on November 28, 1949 in Waukegan. He was a graduate of Warren Township High School, Class of 1968, and was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. Henry belonged to the Teamster's Union and was employed as a long distance truck driver for Quality Carriers in Bristol, WI until his health forced him to retire. He also attended Gurnee Community Church, and in his spare time, enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are his children, Toni Dawn Markus of Roscoe, IL and Brian (Michelle) Markus of Twin Lakes, WI; four grandchildren: Skyler, Cayden, AndiLeslie, and Emilee; mother, Darleine Kutzler of Gurnee; brother, Raymond Markus of Zion; three sisters, Shirley (Ron) West of California, Chris Batchelder of Appelton, WI, and Donna (Davis) Clark of Round Lake; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Henry Raymond Markus in 1993; maternal grandmother, Hazel Schalz in 2005; uncle, Ronald Markus in 2000; and several other aunts and uncles. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 1:30pm at the Salata Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee on Wednesday, February 5, with Pastor Brian Walter of the Gurnee Community Church officiating. Friends may visit the family, on Tuesday, February 4, from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home and again on Wednesday, from 12:30pm until the time of service.
