Mruk, Michael Raymond Anchorage resident Michael Raymond Mruk, 58, passed away at Providence Alaska Medical Center after a brief and brave battle with lung cancer. A service was held at Bereka Church on Saturday May 4th. Mike was born in Waukegan, IL on January 31, 1955. He moved to Kodiak, AK in 1974 and fell in love with its beauty and wildlife. He graduated from refrigeration vocational school in Portland, OR. In 1979 he met his wife, Grace, at his brother Tom's wedding in Seattle, WA. Mike and Grace were married in 1982. He was a long time member of the local 1534 Moose Lodge. Mike owned Alaska Refrigeration and enjoyed working, traveling and meeting people from all corners of Alaska even until his last few days. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, listening to the Beatles and watching his three sons play soccer. Mike's hobbies included playing the guitar and also playing Billiards and Snooker at the Moose Lodge with his close friends. Above all else, Mike loved being a father to his three sons. Mike is preceded in death by his father, John Edward Mruk. He is survived by Grace, his wife of 30 years; his three sons, Matthew (Emily), Adam and David; mother, Charlene; sister, Janet (Tom) Bezouska and brothers, Tom (Kim) and Doug; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
