Van Meter, Ernest E. Age 78, formerly of Round Lake Beach, IL, late of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Hospitality Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born on July 10, 1934 in South Bend, IN, he was the son of the late John and Rose (Senn) Van Meter. He attended schools in Indiana before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. Ernest honorably served our country in the U.S. Air Force from February 15, 1954 until his honorable discharge on October 29, 1957. On March 23, 1968 in Chicago, IL, he was united in marriage to Elaine Bouloukos. They were blessed with 44 years of marriage and four daughters. Ernest was employed for over 15 years with Solo Cup in Highland Park, IL, retiring in 1997. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed following his beloved Chicago sports teams. While his children were active in softball, he was a proud father and coach for many years. He was also an avid fisherman and looked forward to camping trips and playing horseshoes. Ernest will be deeply missed by his wife, Elaine; four daughters, Ellen Van Meter of Kenosha, Eileen Van Meter of Round Lake Beach, IL, Evelyn (Bob) Becker of Morton, IL and Elena Van Meter; a brother, Martin (Camille ) Van Meter of South Bend, IN and three grandchildren, Bobby, Josi and Maddy Becker. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
