Edward "Eddie" Bullen, age 51 of Pleasant Prairie, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones. His strength, dedication and determination were evident during his lifetime and throughout his courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Waukegan, IL, on April 7, 1958 to Orville and Mildred (Edwards) Bullen, Eddie lived most of his life in Zion and Winthrop Harbor. From 1979 1985, he owned and operated the Zion-based Eddie's Towing. From 1987 1995, while serving as a part-time patrolman in Zion, Eddie obtained his U.S. Coast Guard Captain's license and ran Pantera Charters out of the Kenosha Harbor.
On October 28, 1988, Eddie married his soul mate and best friend, Betty Huffstuttler. Together, they enjoyed many years of fishing trips on Lake Michigan and in Canada, camping at Jellystone Park with their special group of friends, snowmobiling at their cabin in Crivitz, WI, and simply being together. Eddie was blessed with many things, but he treasured his loving family and happy home the most.
In 1996, Eddie joined the staff of Dejno's Trucking in Kenosha and quickly became a part of the family. He always had an immense sense of pride in his voice when stating that he was a part of such a great organization over thirteen years. Eddie wished to express his love and gratitude for the friendship, unwavering support and compassion that he received from the Dejno family through his years there and especially during his illness.
Eddie is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Betty; his daughters, Kris Yance of Pleasant Prairie and Carrie and Cristina Bullen of Twin Lakes; Danny Hamilton of Pleasant Prairie, whom Eddie considered a son; and Angela Chacon, whom Eddie called his "special girl." He is further survived by his mother, Mildred Bullen; sister, Donna (Eddie) Dulaney; brother, Jerry Bullen all of Red Bay, AL; grandchildren, Joe Demoe, Jeremy Demoe, Seth Yance and Aden Yance; mother-in-law, Alvie Huffstuttler of Pleasant Prairie; several nieces and nephews and a host of great friends whom he loved and appreciated: Rich and Pat Leglar, Jae & Ronnie Studderd, Tom and Wendy Ingram, Mike and Carlene Congdon, Heidi Ervin and many more.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Orville, Bullen of Red Bay, AL and a brother, Larry Bullen of Winthrop Harbor, IL.
