Judith Drury, age 66, of Winthrop Harbor, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Lakeview Specialty Hospital in Waterford, WI. Born in Winona, MN, September 24, 1942, the first child of Lambert J. and Cecilia A. (Wiersgalla) Hamerski.

Judy attended St. Stanislaus Grade School, Cotter High School and St. Teresa College in Winona. She interned as a social worker for the Diocese of Winona for one year. In 1964, she started her first job working for Catholic Charities of Chicago in the Lake County Office located in downtown Waukegan. Judy was also employed with Sellke & Reily Orthodontics in Grayslake. That same year, she met her future husband, Daniel P. Drury, while both were teaching CCD at Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan. They were united in marriage on October 28, 1967 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona. They have two children, Patrick J. (Sara) Drury of Astoria, NY and Joyce E. (Jaime) Rosen of Wadsworth, IL.
Judy was always community minded and volunteered for various organizations including Star Hospice, AAUW Nursery School, Oakdale and Cook Magnet Schools in Waukegan and St. Joseph High School in Kenosha. She also served two years as President of the P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) International.
Judy was also concerned with environmental issues and worked tirelessly to preserve the world around her.
At Saint Mary Catholic Church in Kenosha, she ministered as a Greeter, served on the Stewardship Committee, and attended Bible study and Adoration.
She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Seth Matthew and Lily Katherine Rosen of Wadsworth, Kelsey and Sydney Rosen of Crested Butte, CO and Celia Rose and Kira Jane Drury of Astoria, NY.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy (William) Lambert of Savage, MN; a brother, Michael (Susan) Hamerski of Falcon Heights, MN; and nieces and nephews, Kristine Lambert, Anthony (Lorie) Lambert , Jennifer Lambert-Smith (Brad), and Madeleine and Samueal Hamerski.
Funeral Services for Judith will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 7300-39th Avenue. Rite of Committal will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in St. George Cemetery. A visitation for Judith will be hosted on Friday, January 9th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.
