Sisson, Margaret Emelia (nee Soma) Passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at the age of 100. She was born March 21, 1914 in Ormsby, MN, the daughter of the late Hans and Anna Marie (Jacobson) Soma. They moved to Canby, MN, then to East Chain, MN area where Margaret graduated as Valedictorian from East Chain High School. She was united in marriage to Victor Arnold Sisson on April 29, 1933 in Des Moines, IA, and he preceded her in death on May 12, 1985. They made their home and farmed near East Chain until December 1960 when they moved to Antioch, IL, where she was a member of the United Methodist Church. Before her retirement, she worked 13 years for Ev Oftedahl. She is survived by 3 sons, Donald Victor (Jean) Sisson of Kaysville, UT, Vern Eugene (Sharon) Sisson of Lorida, FL, Dale Lynn (Janice) Sisson of Eau Claire, WI; 2 daughters, Joanne (Gerold) Topcik of Russell, IL and Carol (Fred) Gustafson of Grayslake, IL; 23 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, June Soma of Oakdale, MN; and many nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by a son, James Sisson; and his wife, Barbara; 1 grandchild, Diana Sisson; 3 brothers, Gerald, Sanford, and Arnold Soma; and 6 sisters, Irene Bliss, Jennie Nordaune, Wanda Oftedahl, Alma Stromberg, Hazel Johnson and Lois Schneider. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 noon, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83), Antioch, IL 60002, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Antioch. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Camp Jorn YMCA, Designated Endowment, P.O. Box 430, Manitowish Waters, WI 54545.
