Glen M. Robbins Obituary
Robbins, Glen M. Age 96, of Janesville, WI, formerly of Waukegan, IL, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Home, Janesville. Glen was born March 20, 1916, in LeMars, Iowa, the son of Brinley and Isabelle (Garton) Robbins. He spent his boyhood years in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Glen then moved with his family to Grand Island, Nebraska, where he graduated from Grand Island High School in 1934. Glen farmed in Grayslake, IL for seven years. He married Helen Ruth Russell on June 19, 1941, in Mundelein, IL. Glen served our country in WWII as a pilot with the US Naval Reserve. He worked for Johns-Manville in Waukegan, IL for 35 years. Glen earned his Eagle Scout award January 3, 1930, and he devoted many years of service to the Boy Scouts of America. Glen was a long time volunteer for the American Red Cross. Glen enjoyed gardening, downhill skiing, and square dancing throughout his life. Glen is survived by his daughter, Carole (Michael) Salinas of Janesville, WI; grandchildren, Scott Salinger of Janesville, WI, Lisa (Shawn) Ray of Janesville, WI, Jason Salinas of Minneapolis, MN; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Ray; sister, Carol (Ray) Staskewich of Waukegan, IL; sister-in-law, Barbara Robbins of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Elsie Barish of Lake Barrington, IL. Glen was predeceased by his parents; his wife in 1995; and by his brothers, Stanley and Donn. With respect for Glen's wishes, there will be no services. The family wishes to thank the Sisters and staff of St. Elizabeth Home for their extraordinary nursing care, friendship, and compassion to Glen and his family.
