Dixon, Betty Emma Reader Hamilton Born August 15, 1934, in St. Louis, MO, died Sunday, September 16th at 6 a.m. surrounded by family after living with lung cancer for almost three years. The loving daughter of the late Fred and Margaret (Hamilton) Reader Betty was raised in Chicago, attended Senn High School, worked for Orange Crush, McMaster Carr, Round Lake Beach Village Hall, Harrison Conference Center, and as a bookkeeper for National Speakers Bureau for over 25 years until she retired. Preceded in death by her siblings Helen Margaret "Madge" Salitza (Warren), Thomas Branston (Ann), Thomas Branston, Kenneth Branston, Frederick Margaret "Teddie" Ensor (Arthur), William Reader (Ruth). Dear sister-in-law to Molly Casali (Brantford, ON) and Ann Branston (Northlake, IL), loving aunt of Fred Reader (Chicago), Barbara and John Branston (Lavone), and Kathy Loveland (David). She has many other relatives and friends in Canada too numerous to mentions. Preceded in death by her beloved first husband of 27 years, William Hamilton, who died in 1985. She always considered his first family to be her children as well, Virginia Joanette (Gerry), Bobby Hamilton (Pat Hill), Sharon Norris (Gerry), Toni Welsh, Steven Hamilton (Toby). Betty is survived by her children, Heather McGee (Wayne), Gurnee, IL, Bonnie (Suzanne Kraus) Chicago, IL, Vicky, Orlando, FL, and William, who died in 2009; Her grandchildren are her delight; Will and Jennifer Hamilton, Jennifer Teresinski (Noah), Jessica and Jason Estrada, Justin Stollings, Stephanie, Andrea and Erin McGee. She cherished her great-grandchildren, Jordan and Adrianna Magana, Haylee Hamilton, and Makayla Evans. Preceded in death by Christian Gabriel Magana. She also had thirteen wonderful years with her second husband, Ertice Dixon, who died in 2002; His children are also dear to her; Vicki Mattson (Bill), Cinde Aaron (Danny), and Karen Ashton (Tony). And her many Betty grandchildren and great-grandchildren also. Betty loved the Lord with all her heart and was ready to go to be with her Savior Jesus at the time of her passing. She was an active member of Cornerstone Community Church in Wadsworth, IL. And previous was a member of St. Paul Lutheran in Waukegan and St. Paul Lutheran in Round Lake. Her church families are also very precious to her. She had a true affection for people making friends easily wherever she went. She loved a good laugh, being in the pool, reading mystery and suspense novels, television, Florida, and her family. Betty had been an active member of the Women of the Moose (Waukegan Lodge 709). She was also a volunteer for two years at a local hospital. Services include a private family viewing and cremation on Thursday, September 20th at Lakeside Crematorium. Burial is Saturday, September 22nd, 12:30pm at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 3300 Hunt Club Road, Libertyville, IL 847-362-5261.
