Konieczny, Aloysius J. Age 91, lifelong resident of North Chicago, IL, passed away Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 at Manor Care in Libertyville IL. Al was born April 15th, 1923 in North Chicago, IL. Al retired from Great Lakes Naval Base. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW, Polish Roman Catholic Union, Polish National Alliance, Polish Home and Holy Name Society. Al was an Army veteran of WWII. He is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnephews and grandnieces. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Victoria Konieczny, Mary (Andrew) Yarc, Anne (John) Jansa, Adeline (Frank) Zegar, Veronica C. (Frank) Bena, Joan (Michael) Derbas, Jean (Peter) Sulentic and Adeline Konieczny; brothers, Francis, Walter, Joseph and Frank (Fritz) Konieczny. Visitation will be Friday, August 8, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Gurnee-Salata Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, IL and Saturday, August 9 from 8:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 9:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Church, 910 14th St., North Chicago, IL. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville. Donations can be made in Al's name to Marytown or the Felician Sisters.
