Lanier, Robert R. Age 78, of Round Lake Beach, died Friday, March 29, 2013 at Captain James A. Lovell Federal Healthcare Center in North Chicago. He was born June 13, 1934 in Schenectady, New York to Sidney and Mildred (Reeve) Lanier. On November 18, 1972 he married Esther Pavon in Chicago. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. serving from 1953 until 1961. He was honorably discharged with the rank of CPL. Robert had been a 20 year resident of Round Lake Beach. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic for Avon Products, Sara Lee, Rank Video and Assembled Products in Buffalo Grove. He retired in January of 2005. Robert was a loving husband, father and doting grandfather. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1170 and was a voting judge for Lake County. He enjoyed golfing, playing pool, and bowling. He was on a bowling league at Lakes Bowl for many years. He loved sports, especially baseball and was an avid White Sox fan. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Esther; two sons, Russell (Yolanda) Lanier of Fox Lake, Joseph (Gina) Lanier of Round Lake; grandchildren, Jasmine, Anthony, Samantha, Logan, J.J., Danny, Angelica, Tristan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Justen's Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 W. North Rosedale Court, Round Lake, IL 60073. Prayers will be said at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, followed by military honors by the U.S. Marine Corp. The cremation rite will be accorded privately.
