Flint Jr., Robert M. Catonsville, MD. On November 18, 2012, died at home of esophageal cancer. The only child of Robert and Hazel Flint, Sr., Rob was born in Waukegan, Illinois in 1940. He earned a degree in economics and finance from the University of Illinois. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1968, including 12 months in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He resigned his commission as Captain to pursue a career in finance and compliance with several companies in the Baltimore Washington corridor. Rob was an extrovert with a fine sense of humor. He made friends easily and was devoted to the well-being of his family, his friends and his community through involvement in social, environmental and justice causes. His constant curiosity prompted spontaneous adventures for family and friends. In retirement Rob enjoyed frequent bicycle and kayak trips to explore trails, marshes and streams. He planted gardens with native plants he learned about on his travels. An active participant in Patapsco Heritage Greenway, he assisted in tree-planting events and regularly volunteered and organized stream clean-up efforts. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Marion (nee Dart); their cherished children, Matthew (Christie), parents of Cathryn and Daniel of North Carolina, and Andrew (Amber) of Maine. As an only child, Rob included as siblings, his brothers-in-law, Roger Dart of Deerfield, Dr. Richard Dart of Wisconsin and sister-in-law, Emily Savage of Gurnee and their spouses . After living in Arizona, Virginia, Massachusetts and Florida, Rob and Marion have made their home in Catonsville, Maryland, since 1970.
