Evelyn L. Strang Obituary
Strang, Evelyn Lyle Age 96 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at her home. She was born August 8, 1915 in Crystal Lake, IL the daughter of the late Lyle W. and Genevieve (Black) Woodbury, and lived in Bristol, WI before moving to Antioch. Ev was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church, Millburn of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #570, Antioch Women of the Moose Chapter #735, and the Lakes Region Historical Society. On November 1, 1940 Evelyn married Edmond R. Strang in Iowa and he preceded her in death on September 12, 1987. Before her retirement in 1977, Evelyn and Ed owned and operated the Strang Funeral Home in Antioch, for over 26 years. Survivors include, her daughters, Jane Evelyn Pullin of Parker, CO and Susan Lee (John) Black of Saranac, MI; five grandchildren, Debora (Kris) Bakken of Hawaii, Christine Jane (Brian) Stecker of Parker, CO, George "Chip" Pullin, IV of Parker, CO, Brett (Darcy) Black of Lowell, MI, and Ashley Renee (Lenn) Stark of Greenville, MI; and 11 great-grandchildren, Corey, Cody, Brittany, Tyler, Jenna, Kendra, Bryce, Makayla, Jacob, Brandon, and Zachary. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rosemary "Rosie" Mahlangu for two years of "wonderful love and care you gave." And a very special thank you to Steve Smouse for "Being like a son to mom, you are One in a Million." Funeral services will be held at 11AM Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch with Rev. Barbara Good, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Antioch. Visitation will be from 4-8PM Monday. INFO 847-395-4000.
