Dever, Thomas C. 76, of Waukegan, IL passed away peacefully at his home, on Friday, January 18, 2013. He was born in Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan to Cassel and Bernice Dever, on August 10, 1936. Tom was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ of Waukegan; He attended West Elementary School and graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1954. In the sixties, he served in the Army
, in Korea, as a radio specialist. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Arizona and worked for Cities Service at the Pinto Valley Copper Mine in Miami, AZ and for Westinghouse Wyoming Minerals Claypool, AZ. Tom's many interests kept him busy over his lifetime; prospecting for gold in British Columbia, searching for arrowheads around Lake County, traveling the western United States with his family, working on cars with his sons, fishing with his grandchildren and visiting Civil War battlegrounds. His greatest passion was gunsmithing; designing and making old Kentucky style muzzleloaders. Tom is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gail (Frasier) Dever; his daughter, Karen (Kirk) Fuss; sons, Thomas Dever and Stephen Dever; brother, David (Joyce) Dever; stepsister, Gail (David) Fisel; stepbrothers, Rick (Ruth Ann) Kamerad and Larry (Cheryl) Kamerad; sister-in-law Carol (Jay) Myers; his grandchildren, Calvin, Jacob, and Anna Fuss; and many nieces and nephews and life-long friend, Gerald Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cassel and Bernice Dever; his sister, Louella; and brother-in-law, Charles Milburn. The family will greet visitors at 1:00pm, prior to the memorial service, on Friday, January 25, 2013 and the service will be at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church of Waukegan, 128 N. Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Waukegan, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in Tom's name, to the Kellogg Cancer Center, 757 Park Avenue West, Suite 1810, Highland park, IL or the Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care Center, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, IL 60023. There will be a private interment service for the family, at a later date. Arrangements, for cremation, were provided by the Neptune Society, 818 W. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL 60067.
