Shirley Jean Anderson

Anderson, Shirley Jean On the morning of October 15, 2013, Shirley passed away in her sleep. She was being visited by family at the Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center in Glenview, Illinois at the time of her passing. Shirley was 79 years old. Shirley Jean Anderson was born in the town of Middleton, Arkansas on May 28, 1934. She was the only child of Annie Mae West and Elmo Strickland. As a young girl, Shirley left Arkansas and came to North Chicago where she met and married Marion Anderson on June 30, 1956. To this union two children were born. She retired from the Joint Computer Center where she worked as an employee of the United States Army for over twenty years. After her retirement she could be found socializing on most days with friends at the Elks Lodge, where she was a member. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion Anderson; and her children, Gayle and Marion (Bubby) Anderson. She leaves to cherish her memory a granddaughter, Angelique (Charles) Robinson; 11 great-grandchildren, Monair Jr., Charles Jr., Faith Shirley, Angelique C., Destiny, Emonii, Areshionee, Barshier, Tomika, Malika, and Robert of North Chicago, Waukegan, and Zion, Illinois; a host of great-great-grandchildren and her Elks Family. A Celebration of Her Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2013 at First Baptist Church, 2219 14th Street, North Chicago, IL. Pastor Lee Maxey, Officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at North Shore Garden of Memories Cemetery, North Chicago, IL.
