Jack Hagopian

Hagopian, Jack A wonderful father, uncle, grandfather and friend, died peacefully, March 29, 2013, at Agrace Hospice in Madison, Wisconsin, after a long illness. He was 84 years old. Jack was born on December 8, 1928 in Waukegan, Illinois, to an Armenian immigrant family. He excelled at academics and enjoyed hanging out with friends Harry Thatcher and Dick Emerick, among others at Waukegan Township High School, from which he graduated in 1946. He was a scholarship student at Lake Forest College, a class of 1952 graduate, and the first in his family to attend college. He served in the Army during the Korean War and married Kareen Keller, of Beloit, Wisconsin, in 1956. Jack and Kareen were married for 38 years and although divorced, always remained friends. After retirement from Premier Graphics in Chicago, IL in 1992, Jack moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where he served compassionately as a substitute teacher in the Madison school system, fulfilling a lifelong ambition to teach and was an active member of the Madison Teacher's Union. Jack and Kareen raised their four children in Itasca, Illinois: Kevin, Mitchell, Shauna and Tina, and had two grandchildren, Annie and Natalie (of Madison, WI), all of whom he loved dearly.
