Perkins, Sandra Shelley Lehman 64, passed away of complications arising from pneumonia on April 1, 2014, at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. Sandi, a resident of Lisle, was born in Alexandria, Virginia on February 8, 1950, to William P. and Wilma L. Lehman. She grew up in Bethesda, Maryland; graduated from Walt Whitman High School; and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Sandi had retired from a long, successful, and beloved career teaching English at Washington Junior High School in Naperville. She took great job in creating and sharing beautiful handiwork ranging from needlepoint and flower arrangements, to hand painted porcelain and ornaments. Sandi is survived by her husband, James Perkins; son, Jeffrey (Amesika Nyaku) Naumann; stepson, Ryan Perkins; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Jeremiah) Libers, their son Declan; sister, Nancy (Walter) Johns and their son Nicholas. Family and friends feel bereft at losing her, and take comfort in remembering her boundless energy, sympathy for others, mischievous and loving sense of humor, and her joy in creating art and antiques; her love of flowers, friends, and family. Sandi was a vibrant and colorful person and she will be greatly missed by all. No formal service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to DonorsChoose.org. Family and close friends will gather to celebrate Sandi's life.
