Donato, William A. 91, Retired Colonel US Army, passed away, March 4, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Phoenix, Arizona. William was born in Chicago, Illinois, a Veteran of World War II, having served in the infantry in Germany and England and served as an Attorney in the Judge Advocate General Corps during the Korean War. William was a graduate of DePaul University and DePaul Law School. He retired in 1980 as Assistant Chief Counsel for The Department of Energy, Argonne National Laboratory and Fermilab. Surviving is his devoted wife of 62 years, Irene (née McKinney) and daughters, Teresa Dewey (Rodney), Janette Myers (Thomas); sons, William, Richard, James (Brenda), Thomas and Robert Donato; granddaughters, Jennifer and Lauren Myers, Adriana and Alessia Donato; grandsons, Anthony and Nicholas Donato and Trevor and Jarrett Donato. William was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Jeanette (née Verniere) Donato and brother, Richard; daughter-in-law, Brenda Donato (née Newlan). William and family were residents of Naperville for 21 years and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1994 and in 2009 once again became part-time residents of Naperville. Funeral Mass was Celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Scottsdale, Arizona, followed by burial at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation # 1800, 11 S. Lasalle St., Chicago, IL.
