Thompson, Samuel John 31, beloved son of Nancy Wagner Thompson and John W. Thompson, passed from this life on June 7 at University of Chicago Adult Hospital. Sam was born with Cystic Fibrosis, underwent a lung transplant in 2002 and was diagnosed with an aggressive form of esophageal and stomach cancer in February of this year. Sam attended College of DuPage and Illinois State University and was employed by Resistance Pro independent wrestling federation. Surviving in addition to his parents are brother, Zachary Miles Thompson and wife, Kierstin Erika Helsel Thompson; niece, Miette Lucille Thompson; and nephew, Samuel Emerson Thompson of Lisle; and sisters, Jessica Lynn Thompson of Lisle and Katherine Jane Thompson of Chicago; Sam also is survived by aunt, Susan Thompson Pearsall of Holliston, Massachusetts and cousins, Karen Middleton-Beers and Jane Middleton; uncle, David Wagner; and wife, Gina Serpico Wagner and cousins Dustin, Thaddeus and Zenia Wagner; and uncle, Brian Wagner all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Sam's maternal grandparents, Vera Jane Wells Wagner and Orman Henry Wagner of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and paternal grandparents, Lucille Veronica Bagley Thompson and Erwin Walter Thompson of Sparta, New Jersey, preceded him in death. Sam also leaves behind many friends that loved and admired him so and who have been a great comfort to his family. A celebration of Sam's life was held at Schiesher Elementary School in Lisle on June 16. The family has chosen the Samuel John Thompson Memorial Fund (US Bank) as the preferred memorial.
