McGuire, Joanna M. (nee Kubick), age 55, a 24 year resident of Naperville, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her family, after an 8 month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born July 18, 1957 in Chicago, IL. Beloved wife of Michael X. McGuire, whom she married December 21, 2002, loving step-mother of Meghan McGuire of Los Angeles, CA and Molly (Tim) Kane of Naperville, devoted daughter of Richard and Maureen (nee Curran) Kubick of Treasure Island, FL, dear sister of Jerry (Betty) Kubick of Naperville, Dennis (Patty) Kubick of Strongville, OH, Michael Kubick of St. Pete Beach, FL, Eddie (April) Kubick of North Carolina and the late Julia (Mark) Miller, her identical twin sister, fond aunt of Michael and Shannon Miller, Jason, Danny, Evan and Amanda Kubick. Joanna grew up in Chicago and Oak Lawn, IL, attended St. Gerald Catholic Grade School and was a graduate of Bogan High School. She received her nursing degree from Kent State University, Kent, OH and worked as a traveling nurse throughout the United States while continuing her studies at Cleveland Clinic and Yale University, New Haven, CT. In recent years, Joanna worked with cancer patients at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL, and, for the last ten years ran a chemotherapy clinic associated with the Advocate Hospital group in Chicago. Joanna was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and Naperville Country Club and it's Ladies Nine Holer golf group. She was known for her artistic talents and operated "Heather & Hearts", a home décor company with her late sister, Julia. Joanna also loved to travel. Visitation Wednesday, October 17, 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St, Naperville. Services will begin Thursday, October 18, 9:15 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Rd., Naperville with Rev. Don McLaughlin officiating. Interment: Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, IL.
