Martin "Marty" Napoli Jr.(1945 - 2013)

Napoli Jr., Martin J. "Marty" Age 67, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1975 and Bonita Springs, FL since 1997, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Seasons Hospice Home in Naperville after a courageous six year battle with cancer. He was born December 27, 1945 in Chicago, IL. Beloved husband and sweetheart of Teena (nee Gribauskas) Napoli, whom he married August 10, 1968; loving father of MJ Napoli of Naperville and Jason (Rachel) Napoli of North Liberty, IA; adored Papa of Joey and George Napoli; devoted son of the late Martin J., Sr. and Mary (nee Sortino) Napoli; dear brother of Jack R. (Marianne) Napoli; brother-in-law of Dorothy Bogdan, Jay (Bonita) Gribauskas, Dennis (Debbie) Gribauskas and Theresa Lux; loving uncle and godfather of many. Marty grew up in Westchester, IL, attended Divine Infant Grade School and was a member of the Class of 1964 at St. Joseph High School. He was the President of Napco Steel Inc., West Chicago, IL, which he founded in 1976. Marty was an active member of the Metal Service Center Institute (MSCI) since 1978. He served at MSCI as National Director at Large 2005-2011 and National Chapter Director in 2004. Locally, Marty served as the MSCI President from 2002-2005, Vice President from 2000-2002 and Recording Secretary 1996-2000. Marty loved to golf and was a member of Medinah Country Club, Medinah, IL since 1982. He served as director and chairperson of many committees, including the 2006 PGA Championship and 2012 Ryder Cup. Marty also was an honorary chairman of Medinah Patriot Day and Board Advisor to the Illinois Patriot Education Fund. In 1998, he proudly won the Medinah Classic with his longtime golf partner, the late John Sisul. Marty was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Naperville and was a Mason and Medinah Shriner. In 1970, Marty served as an Assistant Instructor for the Dale Carnegie Institute. Over the years, he also served on the board of directors at St. Anthony's Savings & Loan in Cicero, IL and on the board of directors for St. Joseph High School in Westchester. In 1991, he received the St. Joseph Worker Award from his alma mater and in 2011 received the LaSallian Award with his wife for their contribution and support of catholic education. Private family services will be held at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Marty's Life on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Medinah Country Club, 6N001 Medinah Rd., Medinah, IL 60157, (630) 773-1700, www.medinahcc.org.
