Martha A. Dougherty

Dougherty, Martha Ann Age 77, passed away December 30, 2012 at Lakewood Nursing & Rehab Center in Plainfield, Illinois. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Martha graduated from Shawnee High School in 1953 and attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. During high school, Martha worked part-time as a long distance telephone operator and at Lehmann's Bakery. She was employed as a secretary for Conoco Oil in Corpus Christi, Texas until she and John were married December 21, 1957. After their honeymoon, they moved to Michigan and resided there until 1970, then moved to Timonium, Maryland for two years, then moved a final time to Naperville in 1972. Martha began employment at Regency Savings Bank in 1978 and was elected Corporate Secretary in 1982. She also served as Executive Secretary to the President and Board of Directors until her retirement in March 2001. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and in 1989 was named the national organization's Diamond Chapter, "Woman-Of-The-Year". She enjoyed shopping, movies, playing computer games and belonged to bridge and Bunco groups. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, John N. Dougherty; children, Susan (Ron) Moderhack and C. Dean (Colleen) Dougherty; grandchildren, Michael Moderhack, Ryan Dougherty and Matthew Dougherty; her brother, Jack A. Hicks; cousins, Bettye Eisert and Jan (John) Hiatt and many, many friends. A Celebration of Martha's life will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 9:30 am until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 am at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home & Crematory, 24021 W. Royal Worlington Dr., Naperville, Illinois 60564.
