Zemansky, Shirley Mae (nee Kramer), age 88, a resident of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Aurora and Joliet, IL, passed away Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL. She was born February 23, 1925 in Aurora. Beloved mother of Alex (Peggy) Zemansky of Plainfield; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews, including Sue Fichtel of Arizona, Connie Fletcher of Arizona, Darlene Seelos of Minnesota and Dr. Alex Kramer of Florida, fond owner of Chihuahuas, Zoé and the late Bambi. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Emma (nee Keil) Kramer and her siblings, Ralph, Alfred and Roy Kramer, Helen Mutz, and Mary Fletcher. Shirley grew up in Aurora, attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Aurora East High School. Over the years, Shirley worked for Austin-Western Co. and Thor Power Tools, both in Aurora and was a loving caregiver to many. She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Cantigny Post #367 and the Croatian Cultural Club, both in Joliet. Shirley loved music and dancing, especially "Dancing with the Stars" but, most of all, enjoyed spending time with her family and her Chihuahuas. Visitation Thursday, April 4, 2:00-8:00 P.M. at Overman-Jones Funeral Home, 15219 S. Joliet Rd., Plainfield. A service by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Cantigny Post #367 will begin Thursday at 2:00 P.M. Services will begin Friday, April 5, 8:15 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 9:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Catholic Community, 2003 Hassert Blvd. (corner of 111th St. & Book Rd.), Naperville, IL 60564. Interment: St. Joseph Cemetery, Aurora, IL.
