George Barrowman, age 64, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 7, 2010, with his family by his side after a short courageous battle with colon cancer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret (nee Kelley), and 1 step-daughter, Lynnett Rogers (nee Croy).
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, LyAnn (Croy), and Children Michael (Lisa) Joliet, Dawn Allen, TX, Cheri (Mike) Reverie, TX, Wendy (Bert) Parker, Joliet, Matt Croy, Joliet and Dena Croy, AZ. George had 4 brothers, Dean, Joliet, Tom, AK, James (Pam), Joliet, Doug (Pam), Joliet, and 1 sister, Jean (Nano) Acosta Joliet. Between George and his wife, he was the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and countless friends who loved him dearly.
George was a Vietnam Veteran proudly serving in the US Army from 1963 to 1966 where he was a member of the Honor Guard. George was an avid Chicago Bears and race car fan. He was also a charter member of the Joliet Chapter of Harley Owners Group.
Cremation rights were honored per his request and will be afforded full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where his ashes will be interred on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at noon. A memorial luncheon will be held at the American Legion Hall in Joliet immediately following the cemetery services.
