Mattson, Mary M. (nee Mayhew) Passed away at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Saturday, March 9, 2013. On her 70th Birthday. Survived by her children, Elizabeth A. (Greg) Ragusa, Eric R. Mattson and Amy M. (Don) Raymer; six grandchildren, Alaina, Alex and Abby Ragusa, Allison, Ashley and Andrew Raymer; her two sisters, Barb Allen of Ann Arbor, MI and Cathy Bullard of Saginaw, MI; her brother-in-law, Jake Anthes of Centerview, MO; other brothers-in-law, Jim and Thom Mattson and sister-in-law, Laura Hines, all of Joliet. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Charlo Mayhew and her sister, Flora Anthes. Born in Manistique, MI March 9, 1943. Mary moved to Joliet and started her family. While at home raising her own children she began to work at what she found to be her true calling: providing home daycare. Mary bestowed much love and compassion to many children in the Joliet area for well over 30 years. Mary developed and continued a special relationship to all of her children throughout their lives. Member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She volunteered her time preparing and serving her "special meals" for DayBreak Shelter for over 35 years. Mary's passion in her life was spending time with her grandchildren. "Nana" was her grandchildren's biggest fan at all of their activities. She also loved to spend time in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where she was born and able to reminiscence past family histories. Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Wednesday, March 13 at 9:30 A.M. to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Ave., at 10:00 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 8:00 P.M.
