Dzak, Stephen 86 of St. Petersburg, FL and formerly of the Lockport-Joliet, IL area, passed away October 29, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Steve retired as a Sheriffs Deputy after 20 years of faithful duty. He served honorably in the Navy during WWII aboard the USS Roi. Steve was co-owner of Dzak Motors; prior to working for Will County Sheriffs Department. He had many skills during his life, including hunting, obtaining his co-pilot license, inventing and patented radio police consoles and was amazing at mechanics, glass cutting, and any type of handy work. Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Jacquelyn; sons, Stephen, Jr. and Bill (Jodi); daughters, Sandi Terzick (deceased Lou Terzick) and Nancy Shepherd (Kenny); 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles. He is predeceased by his father, Charles; his mother, Susan; his sister, Susan Kwasniewski, and brother, John Dzak. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2013 with Full Military Honors at Bay Pines National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Gee & Sorensen Funeral Home. In honor of Steve's life there will also be a Memorial Service, Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at Homer Congregational Church in Lockport, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations to the VFW will be appreciated.
