Gates, Robert C. "Slick" Age 69 years, died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Adventist LaGrange Hospital. Born in Osceola, Ark. he resided in Joliet for many years. JTHS class of 1961, A US Army veteran (Vietnam). Member of Local #150 Operating Engineers. Preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Janetta Jean Gates, a son Richard (Alexis) Gates of Indianapolis and daughter Darnella (Jerry) Evans of Joliet. Three brothers, Alvin (Susan) Gates, Rev Roger (Lynette) Gates, and Kenneth (Rita) Atkinson. Eight sisters: Geneva Carradine, Emma Clerk, Linda Edwards, Cheryl Cooper, Beverly Dixon, Ellen Baskin, Carol Gates, Juanita Criss. Father-in-law Richard McGill, devoted friend James Nash, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, 11AM at Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C. (16 Union St) Rev. Roger Gates officiating. Visitation Friday 2-8PM at Range Funeral Home and Saturday, 10-11AM at the Church. Entombment Tuesday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
