Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Joan (Reilly); daughters, Mary Moore, Shirley (Oliver) Clements, Joyce (Arne) Lindberg; grandchildren, Matthew, Kristen, Joni Moore, Katherine, William, Lucy Clements; brother, Charles (Mary Sue); brother-in-law, George Porvaznik; sister-in-law, Dolores; nieces, nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Julijana (Zagar); brothers, Louis, John, Rudolph Jr., Anthony, Joseph, Raymond; sisters, Julia (Mandel) and Mary. veteran. Serving as an interpreter in Trieste Free Territory, Edward played the key diplomatic role in preventing a violent incident between 12 American infantrymen and 2,000 Yugoslav troops demanding forbidden entry. Valedictorian of the first graduating class of Lewis College. First publicist for Lewis' "Flyer Sports." Employee of Herald News Sports Department. Received Master's Degree from Notre Dame University (1956). Started teaching in 1952. Principal of McKinley Park, then Parks School. Project director of the Joliet Public Schools Migrant Program. After years of working tirelessly to promote childhood education and helping many people in the community, Edward retired in 1988. Received numerous awards, most recently inducted into Lewis University's Hall of Fame. Talker, storyteller, and generous listener. Talented in genealogy. Fond of animals. Enjoyed yard work, bargain shopping, and Notre Dame football. Found special, individual time for his grandchildren.
