Carlson, Don W. Age 80, of Joliet. Born January 19, 1933 in Southbend, IN, passed away peacefully July 14, 2013, due to complications of diabetes. Don retired in 1995 after 44 years of employment from U.S. Steel. He was 4th generation member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Joliet, graduate of Joliet Township High School, 1951, member of the Wilmington Recreation Club, an avid White Sox fan, and always enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Deanna (Christensen) Carlson; children and grandchildren, Dale and Kim Carlson, their children Jennifer and Jonathan (fiancee Jenna Ewers); Connie and Michael A. Roberts, their children, Michael B. and Joseph; Brian and Georgette Carlson, their children Justine and Ian; Andrew and Maria Carlson, their daughter Andrea; one brother, Robert and his wife Vicky Carlson; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Ardis and George Pavlich, Ronelva and Ray Gerencher; also several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many beloved extended family members and friends. Preceded by his parents and in-laws. The family will receive visitors Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 353 N. Midland Ave., Joliet. 11:00 a.m. memorial service, Rev. Robert D. Peterson and Rev. Jane Perkolup officiating. Luncheon immediately following service. Don was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army and was a lifetime member of the VFW
