Obituary Condolences

Rakow, Barbara L. Age 81, of East Dundee died peacefully Saturday morning, at her home. Barb was born on October 15, 1929 in Elgin. She was the daughter of the late Albin & Pauline (nee Petersen) Lantz. Barb was a life long resident of the Dundee area and a life long member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee. On October 7, 1950 she married Eugene L. "Gene" Rakow. Gene preceded her in death after 47 years of marriage on November 30, 1997. Barb was former co-owner and operator of Rakow's Floor Coverings in East Dundee. She was the former East Dundee Village Clerk having served from 1964- 1973. Barb was an avid golfer and bowler. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her five children; Kristi (Dennis) DeSantis of Chesterfield, MO., Mark (Debra) Rakow of East Dundee, Jill (Thomas) Yucuis of East Dundee, Lantz (Marianne) Rakow of East Dundee and Lane (Susan) Rakow of Carpentersville. Barb is also survived by 13 grandchildren; Karri (Keith) Johns, Courtney(David) Dougherty, JT (Shelly) Monschein, Dana (Aaron) Peluso, Brock (Beth) Rakow, Katie (Vince) Neil, Brynn Yucuis, Cole Rakow, Shane Rakow, Dillon Rakow, Bailey Rakow, Hannah Rakow and Hayden Rakow. Her 16 great grandchildren; Kathleene and Tripp Johns, Ty, Matthew, Kaleb and Lyla Monschein, Teagan, Gavin and Maren Dougherty, Ella Rakow, Preston Krahl, Shea Yucuis, Dominik and Anya Peluso and Kendall and Brady Neil. Her mother-in-law; Erma Rakow of East Dundee, her brother-in-law; Craig (Donna) Rakow of Carpentersville, many nieces, nephews and countless good and faithful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Gene, a son in infancy; Gregory L. a grand-daughter; Emily Yucuis. Her brother; Lester Lantz and her sister; Doris Douglas. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, East Dundee. The Rev. Phillip Baerwolf, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East Cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-8 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and again on Tuesday morning at the church from 9:00 AM until the service.
