Herrmann, Pearl Frances (nee Frohling) 96, of Hampshire, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 11, 2012 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin with her family by her side. She was born August 29, 1916 in St. Charles, the daughter of Henry and Mary Ellen (O'Brien) Frohling. Pearl married Carl F. Herrmann on October 18, 1933 in Hampshire. They farmed west of Burlington from 1933 to 1965 when they moved to Hampshire. Pearl had worked at Playskool, the Hampshire Nursing Home, and as a caregiver to the elderly. Pearl was a devoted member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary, Legion of Mary, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Golden Agers. She was also active in her community as a member of the Hampshire-Burlington Senior Citizens, the Hampshire Garden Club, the Kane Co. Home Extension, the VFW Auxiliary, and Hampshire Woman's Club. She was awarded the Earl Engel Award for community service in 2005. Surviving are seven children, Carl "Mike" of Mesa, AZ, Marlene (the late Troy "Ray") Fulbright and Josephine (Clayton) Watkins, both of Jasper, TN, Patrick (Maria) of Hampshire, Richard (Patricia) of Burlington, Dolly (Joe) Hulke of Plato Center and Mark "Butch" (Lisa) of Marengo; 26 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Frohling in Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl on December 28, 1979; a son, Bernard "Bunny"; grandchildren, Troy Adam Fulbright and Carla Jo Barnes; great-grandchildren, J.D. Sisk and Kathlena Chase; a brother, Henry "Pat" Frohling; and a sister, Helen Klimowski. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 15, at the St.Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., Hampshire with Fr. Sylvester Nnaso officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire with Rosary at 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the St. Charles Borromeo Church or School.
