Andres G. Peña

Peña, Andres G. 80, of Elgin passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born March 1, 1934 in D'Hanis, TX, the son of Adolfo and Guadalupe Peña. He had been a resident of Elgin for over fifty years and had been employed by Moline Malable, St. Charles and then Hines V.A. Hospital before retiring. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his loving wife, Ana Maria Sauceda Peña whom he married on October 12, 1963. He was a devoted father and grandfather to three children, Andrew Peña of South Elgin, Lori Ann (John) Pettey of Wayne and Mark Peña of Chicago; three grandchildren, Andrew, Annemarie and Matthew Pettey; two brothers, Jose (Adela) and Miguel (Sandy) Peña; brothers-in-law, Sam, Pete, Art Sauceda; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carolina Sifuentes and Maria; and five brothers, Asencion, Juan, Ponfilo, Jose and Felix. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, Elgin.
