Hoffman, Thomas J. "Tommy" 89, of Sandwich passed away March 3, 2014 at his home. He was born on December 8, 1924 in Aurora, IL to the late Lambert and Francis (Ditto) Hoffman. He served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy. He worked as a Letter Press as a Pressman in Chicago for 25 years and Campana for 10 years. He retired and began working part-time for J.A. Air in West Chicago, IL. He was united in marriage to Helen Boltie on October 7, 1950 at Our Lady of Good Council in Aurora, IL. He was a member of the Montgomery VFW 7452, Life Member of the Yorkville American Legion, Honorary Life Member of the K of C Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1016 Sandwich, IL. 3rd Ward Life Member. He started playing the accordion at the age of 12, and played in several bands which include Nel's Austin WLS Rhythm Ramblers, Red Conner's Country Band Hegerman's the Magic Four and of course his Tommy's One Man Band which he played for all the nursing homes, Aurora Elk's Club, Hi Way Lounge, VFW in St. Chas, Yorkville American Legion fish fry's and Batavia VFW. He is survived by his sons, Randall (Phyllis Hoffman of Ontario, NY and Dennis (Debbie) Hoffman of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Michael, Jason and Stacey and 2 great-grandchildren; nephews, Bruce, Brian and Jammie, and Paul; nieces, Wendy, Joyce, Pat (Bill), Loni (Stash) and Pat (Bill); great-niece, Amelia Gord. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; 2 brothers, Lambert and Martin and 1 sister, Daisy Sherman. Visitation will be Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Beverage Family Funeral Home, Sandwich, IL from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Parish Hall, 340 W. Arnold Rd., Sandwich, IL. Fr. Andrew Hougan Celebrant. Interment to follow at River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia, IL.
