Pewett, Willie Bob Mr. Willie Bob Pewett was born May 3, 1943 to Charlie and Lucy Pewett in Stanton, Tennessee. He made his transition on Monday, June 10, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Willie graduated from Carver High School in Brownsville, Tennessee in 1962. He joined the Army in 1963 and was stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. After serving this term of 3 years, including a tour in Vietnam, he was discharged with honors in Combat Infantry & Airborne/Parachuting. Shortly thereafter, he was blessed with a job at Caterpillar Tractors in Aurora, Illinois, as one of two African-American plant security officers. During his career, he earned certifications as a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) as well as a certified Firefighter. He retired after 35 years. Bob, as he was lovingly called, accepted Christ at a young age and attended Douglas Chapel AME of Stanton, Tennessee. During his lifetime, with an entrepreneurial spirit, Willie wore many hats as a carpenter, cementer, rental manager and owned many businesses including Willie Pewett & Sons Hauling. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lucy Pewett. He leaves to cherish his 5 children, Sharon Payne of Naperville, IL, Willie Douglas of Killeen, Texas, Marcus Pewett of Aurora, IL, Mervyn (Angela) Pewett of Aurora, IL, and Jacquelin Brown of Cordova, Tennessee; one sister, Rosa Pewett of Gary, Indiana; and one brother, Charlie Pewett (Mary) of Aurora, IL. Willie also has 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and relatives. Visitation services will be held on Saturday, June 15th at New Community Baptist Church 900 East New York Street, Aurora, IL from 12pm - 2pm with the Homegoing service starting at 2pm. Arrangements are being entrusted by James Funeral Home of Aurora, IL.
