Heyl, Jacob W. "Jake" 91, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, June 5 at home. He was born in Aurora on December 29, 1921. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Faye M. (Beam) Heyl; children, Jay B. Heyl of Orange, CA and Jon W. Heyl and his wife, Sunyoung, of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Sara Heyl and Brittany Heyl of Aurora; great-grandchildren, Emily, Joshua, Jayson, Sophia, and Nicholas; sisters, Clara Waters of New Albany, IN and Helen Baxter of Aurora, and godsons, Clifford Baxter, Scott Olson and Jason Kim. Jake is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Heyl and Clara (Hendricks) Heyl and his sister, Elsie Covert. Jake served four years during World War II with the 8th Defense Battalion in the South Pacific. He was a life-time member of the Montgomery VFW Post #7452 and the American Legion and a former member of the Marine Corps League. Jake was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He retired from Barber-Greene in 1982 after 42 years. A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 11 at Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery. Pastor Wayne Turner of New Albany, IN and Pastor John Fritz of Hope Lutheran will be officiating.
