Donald Hastings Obituary
Hastings, Donald Bernard Age 76, of Plano, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at his home. He was born on December 19, 1934 in Farmridge, IL, the son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Gass) Hastings. Don was a member of St. Mary's Grade School, class of 1949, in Streator, IL. He then graduated from Streator Township High School in 1953. Don was united in marriage, on October 5, 1974, to the former Diana Schober Stainfield, and they spent the next 36 happy years of their lives together. Don was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plano, IL. He was employed by Howells & Hampton Co. Wholesalers in Streator, IL, and then, for 42 years, by Eby-Brown, in Aurora, IL, retiring in 1996. Mr. Hastings was a Board Member of the Little Rock Township Cemetery for eight years. He volunteered in the Human Resources Dept. of Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL, since 2000. Don was also a member of the Friends of the Library in Plano, IL, and the Streator Historical Society, in Streator, IL. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Diana Hastings, of Plano, IL; his children, Debra (Rudy) Neuberger, of Aurora, IL, James (Christina) Stainfield, Jr, of New Berry, FL, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Stainfield, of Indianapolis, IN, Pamela (Kent) Hennessey, of Fairfox, VA, Jack (Catherine) Stainfield, of Mannedorf, Switzerland, and Dawn (Michael) Stainfield Clements, of Sarasota, FL; his 12 grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Hazel, Nellie and Maxine; and his brothers, Ben, Edward, and Joseph. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 8, 2011 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 901 N. Center St., Plano, IL. Interment will be private. Friends may visit from 4:00 until 9:00 PM on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 W. South St., Plano, IL.
