T. Jordan Gallagher Obituary
Gallagher, The Honorable T. Jordan Judge T. Jordan Gallagher, 63 of Sycamore died Saturday, June 25, 2011 surrounded by the people he loved, at Edward Hospital in Naperville after a short battle with cancer. He was born September 10, 1947 in DeKalb. The son of Thomas J. and Rosella J. (Conlin) Gallagher. Jordan grew up in rural DeKalb County, graduating from DeKalb High School in 1965. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1969 and Chicago Kent College of Law in 1972. Jordan currently was an Associate Circuit Judge of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit since 2008. His judicial assignments included DeKalb County, Kane County Felony Division and Aurora Branch Court. He served as the DeKalb County State's Attorney from 1976-1984 and Assistant Attorney General for over 20 years. Jordan is survived by his 2 children, Sarah (Elie) Chami of Sycamore and Josephine Gallagher of Aurora; 2 grandchildren, Michael and Norah Chami; 2 step-sons, Travis Bonifos of Aurora and Jacob McLean of DeKalb; 1 brother, Dick (Cliff Kaiser) Gallagher of Chicago; 2 sisters, Patricia Carlson of Sycamore and Jane DiGiovine of Naperville;11 nieces and nephews, Patrick Gallagher of Chicago, Maureen (Rich) Drozd of Arlington Heights, Colleen Gallagher of Chicago, Megan (Justin) Weltscheff of Atlanta, GA, Cathy Carlson and Tim (Lorelli) Carlson, both of Sycamore, Mike (Tara) Carlson of Centreville, VA, Carmen (Michalle) DiGiovine of Columbus, OH, Jeannette (Todd) Gehrs of Naperville, Jordan DiGiovine of Chicago and Kevin (Deepika) DiGiovine of Houston, TX; 16 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Debbie Gallagher; and one brother-in-law, Carmen DiGiovine. His Mass of the Resurrection will be on Thursday, June 30 at 10:30 AM at the Church of St. Mary, 244 Waterman St., Sycamore, IL 60178. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 PM at the Church of St. Mary in Sycamore with a wake service at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made for the Church of St. Mary School in care of the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.
