Hardekopf, Norman Paul Age 89, a lifelong resident of the Big Rock area, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at the Willowcrest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, IL. He was born on January 31, 1922 in Aurora, IL, the son of Paul and Clara (Henne) Hardekopf. Norman served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII in the pacific Theatre. Mr. Hardekopf was a longtime and very active member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Aurora, IL. He was formerly employed as a Boiler Engineer at Western Electric, in Montgomery, IL. Norman was a member of the Big Rock American Legion, Post #429. He enjoyed traveling, and over the years, took many cruises to different parts of the world. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his brother, Robert Hardekopf, of Big Rock, IL; his sister, Darlene (Bill) White, of Alva, FL; his nephews, Eric (Coleen) Hardekopf, of Aurora, IL, Eugene (Patty) Hardekopf, of Washington DC, Earl (Maureen) Hardekopf, of Aurora, IL, and Edwin Hardekopf, of Naperville, IL; as well as several great, and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Clara Hardekopf; his brother, Earl Hardekopf; his nephew, Ernest Hardekopf; and his nephew in infancy. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple St., Hinckley, IL, with Reverend Cyndi G. Gavin officiating. Interment will follow in the West Big Rock Cemetery, Big Rock, IL. Friends may visit from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel in Hinckley, IL.
