Gray, Dorothy E. 90, of Aurora, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Jennings Terrace. She was born May 15, 1920 in Newark, IL the daughter of the late J. Bernhard and Annie Mathre. Dorothy was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Montgomery for over 50 years and served in various capacities including Sunday school teacher, VBC worker, choir member and making quilts. Her desire was to serve the Lord, whenever and wherever possible. Survivors include her son, John William (Zandra) Gray of Aurora and Judith Anna (Richard) Halverson of Aurora; five grandchildren, Kathy (Vincent) Costello of Frankfort, IL, Daniel (Heather) Gray of Plainfield, Steven (Lisa) Gray of Oak Park, Ruth (Michael) Noe of Vancouver, B.C. and Andrew Gray of Chicago; eight great-grandchildren and her sister Lillian (Stanley) Thompson of Yorkville. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Gray in 2000; her sisters, Marjorie Mathre and Mary Ann Reiss and her brother, John B. Mathre. Funeral services will take place at 10 A.M. on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 1233 Douglas Rd. Montgomery with Pastor Scott Guhl officiating. Interment will be at River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Friday, April 8, 2011 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl. Aurora.
