Ernestine "Erna" Liltz 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones, on Tuesday May 11, 2010.
She was born Ernestine Feldbaumer in Fohnsdorf, Austria on December 21, 1923, the daughter of Lorenz and Stefany Feldbaumer. She came to the United States at the age of 14, accompanied by her mother. She was a woman of many talents which included cooking and baking special dishes and desserts, knitting, crocheting, cross stitching and sewing. She made her daughter's wedding dress, a major portion of her granddaughter's clothes as a child, and afgans for everyone. She loved reading Danielle Steele novels, and watching movies and TV while always doing needlework.
She married Frank H. Liltz on December 9, 1944 while Frank was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. in California. After returning to Illinois, she found her true calling as a mother to her two children. Her life centered around her family. She loved spending time with her children, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. Those who loved her so well, for so long, will now lay her to rest, but her memory will live on in their hearts forever.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Frank; her daughter, Carol (Bud) Gamage; her granddaughter, Stephanie (Ben) Schweers; her great-granddaughter, Ava Grace Schweers, all of Aurora; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Fister-Litz of Broadview; as well as an extended family of many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
