John M. Weiland
John M. Weiland, 79, of Aurora passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 5, 2009 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born November 25, 1930 in Aurora, IL.
John was a 1948 graduate of Marmion Military Academy. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953. On November 21, 1953 John married the former Alice A. Brummel and they spent the next 56 years of their lives together. He was an electrician for over 40 years and a member of the I.B.E.W local # 701. He was an active member of Annunciation Church in Aurora where he served as an usher for many years. He was a member of the Batavia Moose Club and the Batavia V.F.W. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Weiland; six children, Mike (Diana) Weiland, Rick (Nancy) Weiland, Debbie (John) Calebaugh, Kathy (Paul) Frieders, Ron (Natalie) Weiland and Lynette Weiland; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Katrina, Jason and Megan Weiland, Garrett and Connor Calebaugh, and Danielle and Lauren Frieders; three brothers, Jim LaVerne and Lenny Weiland; and one sister, Arlene Pattermann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha (Pitz) Weiland; and one daughter, Peggy Weiland.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 9, 2009 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at The Daleiden Mortuary, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora, IL, 60506. 630/631-5500 or visit our website at www.daleidenmortuary.com. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 9:30 AM from The Daleiden Mortuary to Annunciation Church at 10:00 AM. Fr. George Glover O.S.B. will officiate with interment at Marywood Cemetery.
