John Clayton Britt
John Clayton "Yogi Bear" Britt, 57, of Yorkville, IL passed away, Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at his home.
He was born December 17, 1951 the son of George M. and Anita (Clayton) Britt. He graduated from Newark High School in 1970. He was a 25 year member of the Sandwich Moose Lodge.
In the 70's and 80's, he was a Police Officer serving in Yorkville, Plano, Oswego and Sugar Grove.
John was a lifetime Kendall County Resident and a proud farmer with his father and George Hollenback when he was young. He bought a Harley two years ago and on lazy Sunday afternoons, he loved to tool around the back roads.
John had three passions in his life, the first was playing the drums he has played since he was a teenager in bands such as "The Silver Moon", "The Boyce Hill" and for the last 25 years "The Winds of Change". The second was driving a truck. John took great pride in this profession, he owned and operated J & B Truck Training in Yorkville for 20 years and was the #1 school in the state in the 90's as well as driving for many area companies. The latest being NBD Transportation in Elburn. The third being his family and friends; because of his passions he has established friendships that have lastest a lifetime you know who you are and how very special you were to him. His family meant everything to him.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly (Connelly); their children, Kourtney (Joe) Batok and Kody; his mother, Anita Britt all of Yorkville; his brother, Bob (Peggy) Britt of Delavan, WI; his sisters, Marianne (Ron) Wells of Yorkville, Janis (Mike) Rogers of Naperville; his in-laws, Jack and Pam Connelly, Kyle (Kris) Connelly Jay (Jill) Richardson and Julie Soave; 19 nieces and nephews; seven great-nephews; and his goddaughter and only great-niece, Kyleigh Price; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his very special great-aunt, Phyliss Clayton of Yorkville.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Britt; his grandparents; and his mother-in-law, Jan Stamper.
John will be remembered for many things by many different people however you choose to remember him or honor his memory do it with a smile on your face and know that Yogi Bear is smiling down from Heaven on you.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano with Pastor Scott Poling officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. According to his wishes, he will be cremated following the service.
