Jean P. Seay

Obituary Condolences

Seay, Jean P. 85, of Sugar Grove, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Countryside Care Center. She was born February 8, 1929 at Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Jean was a resident of Prestbury in Sugar Grove. She graduated from West Aurora High School in 1947. After graduating from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in 1951 with a Bachelors of Science Degree, Jean was employed by Midwest Research Institute (MRI) headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri as a biochemist, working on a government sponsored cancer research program. While at Iowa State University, Jean was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. While home from college during the summer months, she worked at Freeman School playground conducting various workshops and sports related events. Jean always said the children were just wonderful! Jean married J. Glenn Seay on November 28, 1953 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Aurora. They were married for 47 years until his death on October 1st, 2001. Jean enjoyed traveling with her husband, making several trips to Europe while living in Wheaton, IL. Jean and her loving dog, Koko were well known in Sugar Grove, and could be seen often as they made their daily walks. Survivors include her children, Edward James (Joy) Seay of Baton Rouge, LA, Anthony Palmer (Judy) Seay of Three Rivers, MA and Tracy (Rex) Cleaver of Sugar Grove; four grandchildren, Nick, Pryce (Krista), Hayden and Acalia Cleaver; and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Glenn; her parents, William A. and Mayme (Callow) Palmer; and her sister, Joyce Sitz. There will be no visitation.
