Bieritz, Walter Keith 77, of Aurora, IL, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at his home. He was born October 29, 1935 in Aurora, the fourth child of Lois (Archer) and Glen Bieritz. In 1958 he married his love, Judy Lehnert, also of Aurora, and they shared 55 years of marriage. A lifelong Aurora resident, Walt retired after a customer service career at Phillips Auto Parts, Gem Oil, and Luminaire. He was an active member of Fourth Street Methodist Church and enthusiastically sang solos as a member of the church choir. He was always working for the benefit of children and served as the President of the PTA at Smith School, an outdoor education volunteer, and a Cub Scout baseball coach. Also, he enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many years visiting local schools and families. Walt's service earned him honors as the Aurora Optimist Club's Man of the Year, 1975. He continued to play an active role in the Aurora East High Class of 1954 reunion committees. With his quick wit and friendly attitude, Walt was well-known and liked by his neighbors, friends, and family alike. Walt is survived by his wife Judy; his brothers Glenn, Dick, and Bob, and sister Phyllis Dumdie; 4 children Jon (Mary Kay), Mimi (Mike Raczak), Joe (Toni), and Naomi (Geoff Parkhurst); 14 grandchildren, Lauren, Dan (Brittany), Andrea, Kristin, Anne, Keith Gardner (Shauna), Kara (Marc Johnson), Rob (Samantha), Kelly (Chris Becker), Crystal, Derek, Carlee, Tom, and Allie; and 12 great-grandchildren. Walt was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister, Lois Hart. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl. Aurora. A funeral service will take place at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Fourth Street United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Fourth Street and Marion Avenue, with Pastor Debra Tinsley-Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia.
