Grissette, Vivian Evelyn (nee Cummings) 81, of Aurora, passed away July 22, 2013. She was born March 28, 1932 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Alma (Parker) Cummings and Sydney Cummings Sr. She spent her formative years in New Orleans and moved to Batavia, Illinois with her husband and young son. Later the family moved on to Aurora, Illinois where she lived until her death. She was a member of Main Baptist Church until 1985 when she and her husband joined Gayles Memorial Baptist Church. Vivian served on the Hospitality Committee there for several years and loved to be one of the first smiling faces that people saw when they walked into Gayles. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories one son, Bruce J. (LaDonna) Grissette Sr.; grandchildren, Clarissa Honn, Bruce Grissette Jr., and Bridgette Grissette; great-grandchildren, Christian, Cheyenne, Cam'ren and Cianna Honn, Darius Williams, Teonna Brown, Courtney Grissette and Kori Nickence; brothers, Salvadore Cummings and Edmond Cummings; brothers-in-law, Deacon Reuben T. Grissette and Arthur George Fuller, and two sisters-in-law, Ruby Lee Buckley and Delia Grisette and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Deacon Henry R. Grissette; her parents, Sydney and Alma (Parker) Cummings; sister, Albertine Cummings; mother-in-law, Cora Lee Johnson; father-in-law, Aljay Grissette Sr.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy M. Fuller and Irene Grissette; brother-in-law, Aljay (Bud) Grissette Jr.; nieces, Yolanda Kim Bagnerise and Brenda Buckley and one great-niece, Ragan N. McDougle. Visitation will be Friday, July 26, 2013 at James from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Gayles Memorial Church Saturday July 27 beginning at 10 a.m. viewing, 11 a.m. service.
