McConnell, Thomas M. 90, completed his life in this world to begin life eternal with God on February 20, 2013. He was born October 25, 1922 in Glasgow, Scotland the son of the late Allan and Elizabeth McConnell. Tom's family immigrated to the United States in 1925 and took up residence in Chicago, Illinois. His greatest honor and source of pride was serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, often telling stories and sharing memories. Tom leaves behind a legacy of loved ones, his daughters, Gail Quinn of Sugar Grove, IL, Tracee (Donald) Ribar, of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Thomas McConnell, of Chicago, Illinois; devoted grandchildren, Callie Matheny, Megan Haefner, Jocelyn Reichert, Ryan, Rory and Sean Quinn as well as Zoe and Maxwell Ribar. He delighted in his great-grandchildren, Sophie, Evan, Charlotte, Cooper, Avery, Fiona, Gavin and Chloe. Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Lenore E. McConnell; his loving son-in-law, William J. Quinn; and his brothers, Andrew and Allan McConnell. Visitation will be held from 2:00-6:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr. Sugar Grove where a liturgical wake service will take place at 5:30 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8S055 Dugan Rd. Sugar Grove with Fr. Robert Jones celebrating. Mr. McConnell will lie in state from 9:30 A.M. until the start of the funeral mass on Monday at Church. Private family interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
