Chase, Mildred M. Went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2013. Mildred was born June 17, 1926 in Aurora, Illinois, the second of three children born to Mae (Waidley) and Roy Holcomb. Following her graduation from East Aurora High School in 1944, she entered the Salvation Army School of Officers Training, from which she was commissioned a Lieutenant in 1945. On January 31, 1948 she married her childhood sweetheart, Herbert Chase, in Aurora, Illinois. The two had been introduced by Herb's uncle at a Salvation Army music camp in Wisconsin. An accomplished musician, she played several instruments, and served as church pianist until a few years ago. Mildred retired from the State of Michigan as a supervisor in the Corporations and Securities Bureau in 1987. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, James A. and Richard R. Holcomb. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Herbert, daughter Linda and her husband Marvin "Skip" Schoenhals, daughter Eleanor, granddaughter Allison, and beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation is Tuesday, August 20 from 1-2 p.m. with services beginning at 2 p.m. at Mohn Funeral Home in Seminole. Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Park, Aurora, Illinois.
