Leonard C. "Len" Dreas Obituary
Dreas, Leonard C. "Len" 74, of Sugar Grove, IL passed away at home while surrounded by family on November 3, 2012 after a short struggle with lung cancer. He was born April 13, 1938 in Chicago, IL the son of the late Stanley and Gertrude (Grzeskiewicz) Dreas. Len grew up in Lasalle-Peru and attended Saint Bede Academy. After serving in the Air Force, he joined Rempe-Sharpe & Associates and then moved on to join Bill Kearney's civil engineering firm. In 1967, along with Ted Bergeson, he formed the partnership of Bergeson and Dreas, consulting civil engineers. Over the years the company worked on many notable projects in the Fox Valley area, including the Prestbury subdivision on Aurora's far west side. Len continued to run the company, Leonard Dreas and Associates, until he retired in 2006. Under new management, it continues to operate today. Len was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. He also enjoyed travelling with his wife. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia E. Dreas of Sugar Grove; his sons, Michael (Robin) Dreas, Cary (Janene) Hatteberg, Kim (Laura) Hatteberg; and grandchildren, Cody Hatteberg, Danny Hatteberg, Jack Hatteberg; and his brother, Conrad (Orlies) Dreas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and countless warm and caring friends. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr. Sugar Grove, IL 60554. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the chapel. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the at 143 First St., Batavia, IL 60510 or the Provena Mercy Hospice at (847) 622-3467.
