Humbert, James C. 76, of Aurora passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Provena Mercy Center Hospital. He was born May 17, 1935 in New York, New York the son of the late Charles and Loretta Humbert. Jim grew up in East Patchogue, New York on Long Island. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. In 1967, Jim transferred his employment from Brookhaven Laboratories in Brookhaven, New York and became associated with Fermilab where he worked until 1995. He then worked for Argonne National Laboratory for several years until his retirement. Jim was a ham radio enthusiast and loved to fix and restore old radios. He was a longtime volunteer at Morton Arboretum where he was a member of the Thornhill Society. He was an avid green thumb and planted his own gardens as well. Other hobbies included square dancing, country and western dancing and playing horseshoes. Jim was also a member of the Aurora Turner's club. Survivors include five children, Jane A. (Jude Kannankeril) Neiman, Jimmy, Tom, Mike and Sharon Humbert; five grandchildren, Justin, Christian, Sarah, Jeffery and Josh as well a his sister, Patricia (Edward) McLaughlin. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 9, 2012 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl. Aurora. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Wayside Ministries, 215 E.
