Helen Snyder

Obituary Condolences

Snyder, Helen Jane 71, of Batavia, passed away June 13, 2013 at Michaelsen Health Center in Batavia. She was born February 2, 1942 in Battle Creek, MI the daughter of Robert and Agnes (nee Byrne) Cull. She was united in marriage to Regis Snyder June 26, 1965 in Battle Creek. Mrs. Snyder was a longtime and passionate educator in Batavia. Helen's children and family always came first although she still managed to substitute teach in Batavia while raising her children. Helen's love for education gave her a wonderful career at Montessori in Batavia for 27 years. She also taught religious education at Blessed Sacrament in North Aurora for many years. Helen, who claimed to not be musically talented, managed to direct the Blessed Sacrament Choir to a wonderful melody. In her spare time Helen's secondary love was her seamstress talents. She will be remembered for her many baptismal garments and alterations she had done for so many people. She was a member of Altar and Rosary Society, Marywood Juniors Home Extension Club, and Panhellenic Association. Helen leaves a legacy of well educated and successful students contributing in many wonderful ways to our world. She is survived by her husband, Regis; three children, Jennifer (Randy) Johnson of Geneva, IL, Connie (Jeff) Gorden of Ingleside, IL, and Matt (Lori) Snyder of Crystal Lake, IL; five grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, and Andrew Johnson, and Jack and Joey Gorden; and a sister, Norma Landstra of Battle Creek, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL. A rosary service will be said at 3:45 P.M. Funeral services will begin with prayers from Moss Family Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 19, 2013 before proceeding to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 801 Oak Street North Aurora, IL to celebrate Mass at 10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Michealsen Health Center 831 North Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL 60510.
