Brenda J. Brummel Obituary
Brummel, Brenda J. 62, passed away suddenly on December 31, 2012 from heart failure due to undetected lung cancer. She was born on November 1, 1950 in Dyce, AR to the late Homer and Irene Oliver. She married Thomas J. Brummel on February 13, 1971. They were happily married for almost 42 years. She excelled as a photographer for 20 years before retiring in 2007 from Lifetouch Photography to become a full-time "MeMe" to her growing family. She was a fun loving, generous person with a youthful spirit. She cared deeply about her family and it showed in her giving nature. She never stopped by without a gift, whether it was a new toy, clothes or snacks for the kids just to show she was thinking of you. She was always available to her children when they needed her. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. The day she became "MeMe" was one of the happiest days of her life. She spent her time collecting antiques to make her home a work of art. Brenda is survived by her husband, Thomas as well as her son, Shane (Lori) Brummel; daughters, Courtnie (Joe) Vecchione and Tenesha (Brian) James; her eight grandchildren, Johanna Brummel, Brenden, Aidan and Gavin Vecchione and Nolan, Alyssa, Thomas and Brian James; her brother, Harold (Rebecca) Oliver; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gloria Oliver, Mike Larson, Jean Swanson, Donna (David) Fowler and Sharon (Dana) White, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Oliver; a sister-in- law, Joyce Larson; and a brother-in-law, Barry Swanson. Although it was a very hard time, we are truly grateful to have had those final moments to say our goodbyes. We want to thank the ICU Staff at Rush-Copley Medical Center for their care and honesty during such a difficult time, especially her nurses, Sarah and Anne. In lieu of flowers, we ask that instead you consider making a donation to the . Visitation will be held at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 4-8 pm.
